The reason for this lies in the fact that, within a knotted net, the 61 monofilaments are positioned parallel, to reach the established diameter. In a knotless net the monofilaments are intertwined together and this allows the same diameter to be obtained using a minimum number of monofilaments: 61 monofilaments for a 3 mm knotted net compared to 11 for a knotless net with the same diameter
